Experience a narrated tour with an emphasis on Maui’s natural wonders. This tour unfolds from the slopes of Haleakala,
the largest
dormant volcano, on to unveiling the secrets of a native rainforest at the Hawaii Nature Center, and concludes with visiting the
sea creatures in Hawaii’s most spectacular tropical aquarium, Maui Ocean Center.
Haleakala: Travel to the 9,745 ft. viewing area of the crater. Its last eruption was recorded in 1790. Haleakala is large enough to hold the entire island of Manhattan, including the Statue of Liberty. View the endemic silversword plant and the endangered native Hawaiian Nene goose. A delightful no-host luncheon stop is made in the Upcountry area.
Hawaii Nature Center: Travel down the slopes of Haleakala through the "upcountry areas" of Kula and Makawao known for their cattle and agricultural products. At historic Iao Valley, visit the Hawaii Nature Center and see Hawaii's fresh water marine life. You will also learn the unveiling secret of why Hawaii's rain forests are "upside down"!
Maui Ocean Center: At picturesque Ma'alaea Harbor, walk through a transparent underwater tunnel and come face to fin with tiger, gray sharks and other species found in the deep channels surrounding the Hawaiian Islands. The Reef building also reveals the fascinating tropical coral reefs and animals, many found only in Hawaii. Stories of Hawaii's marine life and their relationship to our island mythology.
This tour is definitely an unforgettable experience and a special and unique way to experience Maui from, Above and Below!
