Maui Film Festival - Showcasing Cinema in Paradise

Have you ever been to the Maui Film Festival? If yes, you're probably as excited as we are! It's fast approaching! If you haven’t had the chance, make this year your year.  The annual film festival is going on its 18th year, and this one promises to be quite special. Cinematic creativity composed by passionate filmmakers to reach a diverse audience is what the festival specializes in, with this year as no exception. One of the island's most popular annual events, owing to the authenticity of the films, the guests, and the attendees, the Celestial Cinema is definitely the event favorite.

Imagine yourself settling onto the lush greens of the Wailea Gold and Emerald Golf Course under a starlit sky to watch films projected onto a 50' solar powered screen. Relax and enjoy films that are as exceptional as the natural beauty that surrounds you.

As for the celebrity award winners, this year the Navigator Award will go to Connie Britton. The award honors “a film artist for carving a path of distinction through the turbulent waters of the entertainment industry without sacrificing his or her fundamental commitment to excellence.” Britton is best known for her roles in “Friday Night Lights” on NBC and “Nashville” on ABC. She also co-stars with Selma Hayek and John Lithgow in “Beatriz at Dinner” which will be screening after her award presentation on June 21st.  Freida Pinto will also be honored with the Shining Star award, Pierce Brosnan will be the first actor honored twice, and will be receiving the Pathfinder Award, and Karen Gillan will be honored with the Rising Star Award.

So now you are probably wondering, how do you get there? We can help! Make your way to the Wailea Resort Event Parking Lot at the top of Wailea Ike Drive. Once parked, we will provide you with free shuttle service to and from the venue. We'll keep our comfortable and spacious Van Hool Motorcoaches running continuously to and from the venue throughout the event, starting at 6:15pm, so all the attendees can get back and forth quickly and with ease. That's our business at Akina Tours, and we enjoy providing this service to the wonderful folks who will be coming to the Celestial Cinema and the Taste of Summer event, which will kick off the film festival on June 21st.
