School is back in session and we want to ensure that we are all on the lookout for the keiki. Here at Akina Aloha Tours we have been providing our Maui families with safe and reliable school bus transportation since 1928. In today’s busy world, there are endless distractions while on the road. We want to continue keeping families safe, so when driving near a school zone here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Slow down,  follow all traffic laws and speed limits.
  • Watch for the keiki using the crosswalks, especially in the mornings and afternoons when school is opening and closing.
  • You must stop to allow people in the crosswalk to cross the street, pedestrians always have the right of way.
  • Always stop for a school bus with red flashing lights, regardless of the direction you are driving. This means that students are getting on or off the school bus.

Learn more about Hawaii school bus transportation and visit the Hawaii State Department of Education for the 2015-2016 official school calendar.

Let’s keep our school zones safe and watch for the keiki!
