Every year on Maui there’s one festival that brings the world’s best cinema right to our little island home in Hawaii. Some of the most recognized and acclaimed Hollywood actors, actresses, directors, and more travel to Maui each and every year for the annual Maui Film Festival to celebrate all-things movie related. This year marks the 20th year of the event, which is scheduled for June 12 through the 16th and another year we are excited to provide transportation services to ensure movie-goers get to and from the scheduled screenings with ease. (For a full list of our transportation services, look at our group service activity transportation, and other tour options or request a quote from us TODAY).
During this weekend-long movie extravaganza you can attend a variety of events including new movie features and documentary film showings, special award ceremonies, cocktails, and food from some of Maui’s most exceptional chefs — all enjoyed in the beauty of Maui’s Wailea area.
The Maui Film Festival is an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate film and its impact on the world around us. There are a variety of events held during those few days. So whether you’re considering attending the opening night, which is scheduled for June 12 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., or would like to purchase a 4-entry pass that gives you entrance to the celestial cinema and includes two films and hula performances, live music and big screen a-list tributes, you can buy tickets for these gatherings and more for a discounted price all on the festival’s website.
Along with incredible get-togethers, this festival also honors films, actors, and actresses for their work. This year, movie and television star Joe Manganiello will receive the 2019 Maui Film Festival Shooting Star Award on Friday, June 14, 2019. The award honors an actor in a Maui Film Festival Premiere who delivers a breakthrough performance that lights up the screen. Manganiello is an actor, producer, director, published author, and Emmy Award-winning narrator.
Actress, writer, rapper and musician, Awkwafina will receive the 2019 Maui Film Festival’s Shining Star Award. Previously the Shining Star Award has gone to Adam Driver, Zac Efron, Andrew Garfield, Jake Gyllenhaal, Amber Heard, Freida Pinto, Emma Roberts, and Olivia Wilde. The award will be presented at the Celestial Cinema on Saturday, June 15, at the Wailea Gold and Emerald Golf Courses.
This is an incredible community event to attend and we hope we can help you out by getting you to and from the event. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us and let us know how we can help you. Have a great week and we’ll see you back here soon. Cheers!
